increase of exports, the effective substitution of imports, high technology and

local development projects; and that contribute with new sources of

MARIEL SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE OFFICE

The Mariel Special Development Zone Office is a national entity

attached to the Council of Ministers and commissioned to

administer the Zone, control its activities, elaborate and conduct

the

all

applications, licences, permits and authorizations carried out or

needed by concessionaires and users of the Zone or by those

interested in becoming established in it, by means of a one-stop

shop system and with effectiveness and efficiency.

MAIN GUARANTEES FOR FOREIGN INVESTORS

1. Full protection and security in the national territory.

Investments may not be expropriated except for reasons of

public utility or social interest.

2. Protection against third-party claims, in accordance with Cuban

law and with the provisions of national courts of justice.

3. Free transfer abroad of dividends, profits or other income

associated to the exploitation of the investment, with tax

exemption.

4. Foreign nationals who do not reside permanently in Cuba may

transfer their assets abroad in accordance with the additional

regulations of the National Banking System.

5. The period of authorisation may be extended by the same

authority which granted it.

WATER SUPPLY NETWORK

22 Km water supply network from the wells to the main delivery

points. It guarantees a stable water supply to all facilities in the

Mariel Special Development Zone.

In place there is a communications

system with fibre-optic interconnection

and a radio uplink as redundant
